Shower reseal

Published : 27/09/2012

If you’ve noticed that your shower is starting to leak, that the grout is starting to weaken, or the shower base has cracked, you don’t necessarily need a major overhaul. Calling in a professional to reseal your shower recess can save you time and money, and is one of the best permanent solutions to most shower issues.

Traditionally, when a shower begins to leak or water starts to seep into other areas of your house because of weak grout, the solution has been to remove all of the tiles and re-grout the entire recess. This can take days, meaning you’re without the use of one of the most important rooms in your house, and is usually very expensive. Also, tiles that crack or break in the process can often be hard to replace, particularly if they’re old.

In recent years, new technology has emerged that changes how showers are restored. Megasealed has led the way in creating bathroom sealants that provide long-term solutions, and now has 16 years of experience in the field.

Megasealed can permanently seal a shower, even if the tiles are cracked, and because the product has a warranty for 25 years, it’s a cost-effective solution too. If the shower base is cracked it’s best to have it replaced. An additional benefit is the time it takes – in just 3-4 hours the job is complete, and you can use your shower again within 24 hours.

There are times when you will want to re-tile your bathroom, and this is a good opportunity to prevent grout cracking by using Megasealed’s flexible two part epoxy system. This, combined with a complete Megasealed sealant will protect your home from shower leakage for years to come.
